"Footprint Planer on Leopard"
"Recently returning to Toronto after several years in Vancouver, Heather is interested in using photography to explore the commonplace as abstraction. "In an increasingly homogeneous environment, we encounter displacement in many ways. Sometimes a juxtaposition is obvious; other times it's experienced as a subtle concept.

"Rush Hour"
Sometimes by looking at a situation from a different angle we see it as new instead of isolated or separated from its context". Using pictures of everyday objects and situations, Heather tries to reintegrate new ways of looking at familiar images and, in the process, encourage the viewer to see displacement as movement and reimagining. "The subway has an amazing power to unite the very fringes of Metropolitan society into a confined space all to fulfill the very common goal of wanting to be somewhere else. With these photos I wanted to show the daylife and nightlife of Toronto meeting and finding something they shared in common."

"Hannah is in a darkened room lit only with a blacklight. White paper was used to create the illusion of light flowing from within her into the darkened space of the room. During the photographic process Hannah seemed so utterly alone and yet flooded with some kind of internal light."

"The Train" - Zator, Czech Republic
"Every morning I watched for it in the hills beyond the house. Who's on board? Where is it going? Then, speeding along, the train crossed our path, the gate fell, clang, clang and then it was gone."
